Hall appointed to lead state budget in Iowa House

Des Moines, Iowa -- House Democratic Leader Mark Smith of Marshalltown today appointed State Representative Chris Hall of Sioux City as the Ranking Member of the House Appropriations Committee for the 2015 Legislative Session.


“Rep. Hall’s work last session verified he is ready to help lead the state budgeting process,” said Smith. “Chris has always worked hard, and I know he will find ways to help Iowa businesses thrive and craft a responsible budget.”


The Appropriations Committee addresses all spending and budget-related legislation. Spending recommendations formulated by the Appropriations subcommittees are referred to the Appropriations Committee for final action before floor debate. Hall has served on the Appropriations Committees for the past four years and will also serve on Commerce and Natural Resources.


“I am humbled to be chosen to lead House Democrats on the Appropriations Committee,” said Hall. “I look forward to working with colleagues of both parties to pass a responsible balanced budget and I am proud to represent the people of Sioux City.”


Hall was elected to a third term in the Iowa House this November. He serves as the Grants Coordinator at Western Iowa Tech Community College.


The 2015 legislative session begins on January 12th , 2015.
